The first photo in the popup gallery is our most recent iteration of this tall backed office chair. It was made in California walnut with red elm slats. This version is made to accompany a table or desk with a shorter arm length. It offers a real elbow support but still allows one to get close to the desk top.
The McCorkle Chair is a large, fully upholstered, tilting chair on wheels. Pictured is one of a pair commissioned for a sitting room. We can make an office variation of this design with a shorter arm, which provides enough length to offer support but not so much that it interferes with a desk face. The tilting mechanism we use combines a silent torsion-bar tilter and a nitrogen-filled gas cylinder for height adjustment. When the client who originally commissioned this design received his chair he shot off an email to Robert and Tor: “This chair is actually going to improve my quality of life.”
