van Muyden Arm Chair

Inspired by a simple yet striking three-legged chair that Robert Erickson saw during a visit to a Hallingdal farmhouse in Norway, the handmade van Muyden Arm Chair integrates beauty and functionality. Though originally created as a custom dining chair for Wim and Pauly van Muyden, this handmade chair is the first design in our Bent Arm Collection. The curve of the wood on the back and on the arms offers comfortable, ergonomic support that allows family and friends to sit and visit for hours around the dining table.

We used the classic combination of cherry and curly maple to create this van Muyden Arm Chair, offering a beautifully-contrasted frame with the seat. As a custom design, we can use a variety of woods to create a unique chair for any home or office, as this design works well as a desk chair, office waiting room chair or an occasional chair in addition to its functionality as a dining room chair. This modern chair design can be customized for any table height.

Our handmade van Muyden Arm Chair is in the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and the Yale University Art Gallery.
