Pricing

Please call or write for pricing information for specific pieces. Chair prices range from $2500 to $8000. Dining tables and desks range from $10,000 to $20,000.

Payments

When you place an order for a chair, I ask for a $250 non-refundable deposit. Because most chairs are custom-sized and the wood is your personal choice, I ask for the balance due before the work actually begins, that is, when we call to tell you that we're ready to start making your piece. In an effort to keep prices as low as possible, we don't accept credit cards. (Our low volume entails high credit card transaction costs.) Therefore, I ask for payment by check or money order.

How long does it take to get the furniture after ordering it?

Our usual lead time is about six months, but can vary from about three to eight months. When you order a piece, we can give you a fairly accurate estimate (give or take a month) of when we'll be able to start work on it. Before making a piece, we will call you to reconfirm the particulars. Normally, if you give us the go-ahead and send payment, the chair will be finished and ready to ship within two months after that call.

Crating and Shipping

We crate most chairs in large triple-walled cardboard cartons and use a number of smaller cardboard boxes within the large carton to suspend the chair and provide protection on all sides. We usually ship individual chairs with Roadway Express, a large freight company. Roadway takes about five to ten working days to get the chair from us to you. We charge $125 - $150 to crate most chairs. Sometimes we need to make heavier wooden crates for some of the pieces, such as the recliners and settees, in which case crating costs run from $200 to $300. Freight charges with Roadway run about $200 to $300 for most pieces. In order to take advantage of the greatest discount, we pay freight charges on our end and bill you. If you've ordered a large piece of furniture such as a desk or table, or a set of furniture, it's often more economical to ship with specialized freight companies that wrap pieces in blankets, thus avoiding crating charges.

Special Commissions

There are far more designs in my portfolio than I've shown in this web site. If you'd like to see other work, please get in touch with me and I'll gladly send images. However, if the qualities of my work appeal to you but you don't see a piece that suits your specific need or satisfies your particular desire, I encourage you to enter into the design process with me. After we've talked, either in person or on the phone, and exchanged photographs and sketches, I'll produce a finished drawing of a new design for you. (See Sketch Book for some examples.) I charge $350 per piece for this service.
